Food Allergy and Schools Webcast

FAAN’s Vice President of Advocacy and Government Relations, Christopher Weiss, will be participating in a webcast entitles “Food Allergies and Schools: Keeping Students Safe and Ready to Learn,” sponsored by the National School Boards Association.  This webcast, which will feature national experts, educators, parents, and students with life threatening food allergies, will take place Nov. 9 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. ET. The webcast is free, but you must register to view it.  We encourage you to participate in this educational webcast, and let your local school officials know about it as well. 

Non-Profit Organizations to be Honored at Celebrating Our Children 

During the 2010-2011 school year, Children-R-First and Rainbow Station will be hosting “Celebrating Our Children”; a workshop series for parents, caregivers and educators of young children. Many local businesses and organizations are already partnering with Children-R-First to make this a successful event, and they are excited to announce that they will be celebrating not only our children, but the non-profit organizations in our community that make this world a better place for them.  Non profits include Read Aloud VA, Kids with Food Allergies, Make a Wish Foundation, March of Dimes, CHIP of Richmond, and Commonwealth Parenting. Visit for additional information.

Teen Summit Registration Opens
Registration  for FAAN’s Fifth Annual Teen Summit  is now open! Teens with food allergies, ages 11 to 20, and their siblings, ages 11 to 20, are encouraged to join us on Oct. 22-24 at the Sheraton Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD for a weekend of fun, education, and discussion of topics unique to teens with food allergies. Washington Nationals Peanut-Free Baseball
This year, the Washington Nationals are getting an early start in announcing dates and details for peanut-free seats for games at Nationals Park.  Based on the success of these games over the past few years, the Nationals will set aside the party suites for three games this season: 
Saturday, July 31 @ 7:05 PM vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Friday, August 27 @ 7:05 PM vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Tickets are $25ea and are available through the Washington Nationals. 

The Minnesota Twins & AFAA announce...
                                   Peanut-Free Balconies for selected 2010 games
The Minnesota Twins will offer 5 games this season where peanut free fans can view the games from 2 Target Field balconies located in left field. Only those with allergy to peanuts and their immediate family members are eligible for these sections. Participants will be required to sign a waiver and may be asked to provide documentation from a Dr. Tickets range from $20-$22ea depending on date. ORDER TICKETS

San Diego Food Allergy Family Fun Day
This is a great opportunity to meet other families who manage all kinds of food allergies-- and have a lot of fun.  Kids will enjoy playing with friends, climbing the inflatable obstacle course and decorating a t-shirt for their newly adopted stuffed  animal. ("Asthma friendly" stuffed animals are available upon request.)
